The Balenciaga Fall'24 collection reflects Demna's interpretation of Los Angeles fashion codes through a cinematic lens, focused on characters. The idea unfolds through sportswear for running, yoga, and gym sessions, gradually transitioning to a Hollywood evening with dresses inspired by Cristóbal Balenciaga. Between these blocks, updated grunge, casual everyday looks, and signature silhouettes capture attention.
Balenciaga presented its collection in Los Angeles for the first time. The show took place on a palm-lined street, accompanied by music from BFRND with a custom track featuring various voice narratives.
The show opens with a sportswear line. Simple and everyone's favorite items for an active lifestyle: shorts, bra tops, leggings, and hoodies.
Following this is the knitwear section. This part pays homage to the American velvet tracksuit trend and celebrity street style of the early 2000s. New versions of the suits feature low-slung trousers – some so low that underwear is visible – and cropped hooded jackets. The look is completed with high-soled Alaska boots.
Neo-grunge follows. The looks are dominated by layering and oversized. Everyday wear stands out with large proportions and precise tailoring, embodying casualness and glamor.
Evening wear concludes the show. Shapes and silhouettes are sharply defined, many pieces blend past and present, referencing original designs by Cristóbal Balenciaga himself. Wrap coat-dresses have an angular, plush shape, while perfectly tailored one-shoulder dresses create a softer impression.
The final look emphasizes the incognito effect: a monumental white dress in heavy white satin with a rigid face shield.
As for accessories - the eyewear includes evolved mask and wing shapes, as well as the new Malibu line with elastic temples and premium titanium construction. The new shoe model – the 10XL Sneaker – highlights an exaggeration in proportions, which is characteristic of Balenciaga.
